David J.8 Whitney (Eli7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Eli7 and Ann (Hartford) Whitney, was born 31 Aug 1825, Harrison, ME, and died 26 Oct 1870, Stow, ME.

He married, 14 Sep 1850, Boston, MA, Celia Bridget Trainer,[1] daughter of James Trainer. She was born 31 Oct 1828, England or Ireland, and died 21 Mar 1881, Stow, ME.

All information I have submitted about this family, and all information concerning this branch of the Whitney family, is done in memory of Spencer Sellas, who inspired and participated in the research. Spencer was a member of the WRG, and is remembered by some for his contribution to their work and to their lives. I am sure that his beautiful young family misses him terribly.

David J. Whitney was a veteran of the Civil War, and his widow received a pension from the U.S. government. Much of the information about this family is gleaned from the pension file, but I did not write an abstract of the file.
