Rev. Doty L.7 Whitney (Samuel6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Samuel6 and Margaret (Darrow) Whitney, was born about 1812, and died 25 Jun 1856, Morrill, ME.

He married, about 1830, Vinalhaven, ME, Sarah Jane Burgess, daughter of Edward and Sarah (Philbrook) Burgess. She was born about 1811, ME, and died 27 Dec 1891. Apparently she married secondly, 16 Jan 1868, Hope, ME, Thomas Perry. He had married firstly, 28 Jul 1816, Sabra Goodspeed, who died 16 Nov 1867.

Both are buried in the Morrill Cemetery, Morrill, ME.

Doty L. Whitney was elected Moderator at the annual town meeting for Belmont, Maine held on 8 Mar 1852.

"1856: June 25, Rev. Doty L. Whitney. He commenced preaching about 1840, and preached here often during the remainder of his life, for the love of the cause to which he was devoted. He died suddenly, aged 44 years"

ii. Martha A. Whitney, b. ca. 1847, Morrill, ME; d. Oct 1929, Belfast, ME; m.(1) ----- -----; m.(2) Charles Francis Wilton; "of Waldo" m.(3) ca. 1889, Freedom, ME, Benjamin Wentworth "of Waldo", as his third wife, b. ca. 1838, Kingston, NH, son of Benjamin and Ruth (Healy) Wentworth.[1]
