Edward Robinson Boles7 Whitney (Charles6, Walter5, Samuel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Charles6 and Jane (White) Whitney, was born 8 Mar 1818, near Clarksville, New Scotland, NY, and died 24 Oct 1879, Albany, NY. He was buried in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY.[1]

He married, 20 Jul 1844, West Troy, NY, Wealthy Maria Whipple, granddaughter of Marmaduke and Wealthy Maria (Whipple) Whipple. She was born 1825, Union Village, Greenwich, NY, and died 28 Jan 1901, Albany, NY. She was buried in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, NY.[2]

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a harness-maker . . . . His place of business was at the corner of Whitehall and Auburn Streets, West Troy, N.Y., in Dec. 1873. "

i. Minerva Jane8 Whitney, b. 1846; d. 4 Sep 1865, Albany, NY, "aged 19 years," where she was buried in lot 159, section 92, Albany Rural Cemetery.
ii. Edward Batcheldore Whitney, b. 3 Sep 1848; m. 14 Dec 1870, North Bennington, VT, Almia Isabel Viall, daughter of Aston Paron and Laura Ellima (Stephens) Viall,[3] b. 24 Jan 1849, Oxford, MA; a shoemaker. They settled at Shaftsbury, VT, and were living there in Feb 1874.
iii. Charles Arthur Whitney, b. ca. 1851; an inspector of lumber; was living at West Troy in 1880, unmarried; m. Bridget Hanlon.
iv. William P. Whitney, b. ca. 1853; m.(1) ----- -----; m.(2) Mary -----.
v. George A. Whitney, b. ca. 1856; m. Elizabeth -----.
vi. Anna Whitney, b. 20 Dec 1859; d. 1 July 1860, Albany, NY, where she was buried in lot 159, section 92, Albany Rural Cemetery.
vii. Harriet L. Whitney, b. May 1862; and was living at West Troy, NY, in 1880.
