Pleasant Sts., Milford, now owned by the present Elias, Jun 12, 1764.  That Elias was then said to be of Framingham; and he bought said farm of James Heyward, a grandson of "Great Meadow" Jonathan Heyward.  The farm has remained in the possession of the first Elias Whitney's descendants ever since, being one of the few that have remained so long in the same lineage.  Elias Whitney is a much-trusted man in town affairs, especially in the oversight of the poor.  He has been the leading overseer of the poor for some 231 years, and for more than a year has had charge of the asylum.  He has also held various other responsible positions.  He was buried by Montgomery lodge A.F.& A.M., 30 Sep 1888, with Masonic honors.  He joined Montgomery lodge A.F. & A.M., Aug 1860, and held several offices in same.  He resided Milford, MA.
