Elijah Whitney (Samuel, Elijah), son of Samuel and Sibbel (Phillips) Whitney, was born 14 Mar 1790, Albany Co., NY, and died 10 May 1870, Sanford, NY, aged 80 years of a stomach ailment,[1] aged 80 years 1 month 26 days. He was buried in McClure Cemetery, Sanford, NY.[2]

He married firstly, say 1820, Polly Boomhour, daughter of Jacob and Mary (Gregory) Boomhour/Baumhauer. She was born 10 Jun 1802, Delaware Co., NY, and died 16 Mar 1862, Sanford, NY. She was buried in McClure Cemetery, Sanford, NY.[3]

He married secondly, between 1865 and 1870, Charity (Houghtaling)(Orr)(Mickel) Hitchcock, daughter of Johannes and Geertje (Stikkel) Houghtaling. She was born 15 Feb 1793, Columbia or Delaware Co., NY, died 25 Nov 1878, Oneonta, NY. She was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Oneonta, Otsego Co., NY.[4] She had married firstly, about 1817, David Orr (1790-1819), secondly, about 1826, John Mickel (1785-1830), and thirdly, about 1833, Jabez Hitchcock (1774-1857).
