Enoch8 Whitney (Eli7, Enoch6, Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Eli7 and Ann (Hartford) Whitney, was born 24 Sep 1839, Naples or Harrison or Stow, ME, and died 14 Oct 1919, Harrison, ME.

He married 24 Oct 1858, Chatham, NH, Susan Lord, daughter of William and Mary A. (Potter) Lord. She was born Apr 1840, Stoneham or Stow, ME, and died 31 Oct 1921, prob. Harrison, ME.

In 1862 and 1863, he was a teamster, living at 36 High St., Boston, MA. In 1865 he was living at 427 Broad St., Boston, MA. In 1866, he was living at 224 Federal St., Boston, MA. In 1868, he was living at 281 Federal St., Boston, MA. In 1870, he was living at 134 Beach St., Boston, MA. In 1873, he was living at 24 N. Anderson St., Boston, MA.

Census: The census material on this family is challenging. The family is found in 1870 in Boston, MA, but the family name is listed as "Whiting". Daughter Laura is listed as eight years old. Enoch is a teamster. In 1880 the family is found in Sweden, Oxford Co., ME, where he is a farmer. Laura is now Lauraella, and is listed as a daughter-in-law, the wife of son William H. Whitney, who does not appear in the previous census. It appears that the roles are reversed in the census, Lauraella is the daughter, and William H. Whitney is the son-in-law, and the son of Stephen Thomas and Catherine (Brown) Whitney of Harrison, ME.

1900 and 1910, reside in Harrison, ME, where he is a farmer.

The 1900 census reveals that Susan had eleven children, with seven surviving. She appears in the 1920 census in Harrison, living with her son Tobias.
