Family:Whitney, Frank E. (1908-1996)
Frank E.10 Whitney (William Henry9, Mark J.8, Jarvis7, Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of William Henry9 and Ellen K. (Shannon) Whitney, was born 28 Jul 1908, Fresno, CA, and died 16 Apr 1996, Watsonville, CA.
He married firstly, Anna Wiens. She died between 1955 and 1965, San Francisco, CA.
He married secondly, Kathy -----.
Frank was the oldest of three children of William H. and Ellen Shannon Whitney. Born and raised in Fresno, Frank spent many years living in San Francisco. With wife Anna had three children: Jack, Ralph, Betty. Anna died of leukemia in the late 1950's or early 1960's. Son Jack was an engineer, married, and worked on the Gemini Space project, passing away from peritonitis (a complication from abdominal surgery) at age 32 leaving behind his wife and 6 month old daughter. Son Ralph died in the Korean conflict in Dec 1950. He was in the Marine reserves, one of the first troops called to the Korean conflict. Daughter Betty married Don Brown (a minister) and they lived in Topeka, KS. Betty and Don had four (I believe) children. Betty is an accomplished violinist. Betty divorced, has taught at the Rochester Institute in NY. Betty remarried. Frank remarried Kathy (don't know her maiden name) and they lived in San Francisco, then moved to home in Watsonville. They both passed away there and are buried in the Watsonville, CA cemetery. Frank was an accomplished painter: landscape, city scenes, people, cable cars. Frank was the oldest of three: Frank, Ralph (my father), and Cleo Whitney. These are the best recollections of my Uncle Frank's family. I believe Betty has many grandchildren but have lost track of her.
