Frank W.9 Whitney (Walter8, Ohio7, Silas6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Walter8 and Elvira (Dunn) Whitney, was born 13 Jun 1856, Fitchburg, MA.

He married, 25 Dec 1882, Nashua, NH, Georgia Augusta Taylor.[1]

He was born at Fitchburg, MA; he was educated in the common schools of that city, graduated from the high school in 1875, and received the degree of A. B. in the college of Liberal Arts, Boston University, in 1879. In 1879 the Boston supervisors granted him their "first-grade certificate." He was principal of Kingston (New Hampshire) academy during the 1879-1880. In the year 1880-1881 he was principal of a Boston evening school and substituted in the city day schools. He was an assistant in the chemistry laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall of 1881. On 1 Jan 1882, he became the principal of the Palmer, MA, high school, and held this position till his election to the principalship of the Chicopee, MA, high school in Jul 1884. After three years of service at the head of this school, he was elected to a like position at Dover, NH. He is now completing (1894) his eighth year as principal of the high school. Mr. Whitney has written for educational publications and read papers before New Hampshire teachers' associations and institutes. In 1892 he was elected treasurer, and in 1893 president of the New Hampshire State Teachers' Association; resided Chicopee, MA, and Dover, NH.
