- "Frederick J. Whitney of 96 Day Street, Newington Junction, died at his home Monday afternoon after a long illness. He was born in St. Joseph, Mo., son of the late Henry and Flora Whitney, and had lived in Newington for 32 years. He leaves his wife, Minnie Gregor hitney, two daughters, Mrs. Charles L. Berry of Elmwood and Mrs. Howard Hill of Newington; three sons, Harold H. Whitney and Burton O. Whitney of Newington, and Charles S. Whitney of Meriden, and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at his home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Louis I. Belden of Christ Church Cathedral officiating. Burial will be in Newington Cemetery."

- "Mrs. Minnie Gregor Whitney, 93, of 15 Church St., Plainville, widow of Frederick J. WHitney, died Sunday at the Holly Hill Convalescent Home in Simsbury. She was born in Meriden and lived in Newington for may years before moving to Plainville three years ago. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Newington. She leaves two sons, Harold W. Whitney of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Charles F. Whitney of Berlin; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Berry of Haddam and Mrs. Howard Hill of Plainville; ten grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 25 Bonair Ave., Newington, with the Rev. George J. Karney Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Newington. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m."
