George Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about Aug 1799, Thorndike, ME, and died 25 May 1876, Pittsfield, ME, aged 76 years 9 months. He was buried in Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, ME.[1]

He married, 31 Aug 1823, Thorndike, ME, Susan Collamer/Collamore,[2] daughter of Lebbeus and Nancy (Cook) Collamer. She was born about May 1805, ME, and died 1 Jan 1895, Pittsfield, ME, aged 89 years 7 months. She was buried in Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, ME.[3]

v. Rachel Whitney, b. 17 Sep 1833, Pittsfield, ME.
vi. Mary Whitney, b. 23 Jul 1835, Pittsfield, ME.
vii. George J. Whitney, b. 7 Aug 1838, Pittsfield, ME; d. 1893; bur. Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, ME;[5] m. 15 Feb 1863, Newport, ME, Etta Nye, both of Pittsfield,[6] b. ca. 1847, ME, dau. of George and Etta (-----) Nye. Apparently there was a divorce, since she m.(2) 20 May 1869, Lowell, MA, Hugh W. Roberts, b. ca. 1843, Wales, son of William and Catherine (-----) Roberts.[7]
