George Alfred8 Whitney (Thomas7, Phinehas6, William5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Thomas7 and Henrietta (Parker) Whitney, was born 30 Aug 1809, Shirley, MA,[1], and died 25 Mar 1860, Boston, MA, aged 50 years 11 months 26 days, of pleurisy, merchant.[2]

He married, 16 Nov 1841, Boston, MA, Mary Davenport Hayward,[3] daughter of Joseph Henshaw and Mary May (Davenport) Hayward. She was born 10 Mar 1818, Milton, MA, and died 15 Jul 1886, Boston, MA, aged 68 years 4 months 5 days, of pertiphlitis peritonitis, resided 752 Tremont Street.[4]

He resided Shirley, MA.

i. James P.9 Whitney, b. 12 Jan 1847; d. 6 Sep 1871.
ii. George A. Whitney, b. 15 Nov 1848; d. 9 Dec 1870, Boston, MA, aged 23 years,[5] of pulmonary hemorrhage.[6] He was a sculptor living at 752 Tremont St., Boston, MA.
