George Henry7 Whitney (Whitford6, Asa5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Whitford6 and Mehitabel (Hopkins) Whitney, was born about 1838, Plainfield, CT, and died 29 Jul 1920, Putnam, CT.

He married firstly, Mary H. Brewster, daughter of James and Mary (Baker) Brewster. She was born about 1833, Pomfret, CT, and died 9 Dec 1864, Putnam, CT, aged 31 years, of enteritis. She was buried 11 Dec 1864, Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, CT.

He married secondly, about 1866, Ann Sophia Buck, daughter of Lorenzo Henry and Sophronia (Sheldon) Buck. She was born 18 Jan 1846, MA, and died 30 Jan 1932, aged 85 years, of chronic myocarditis.
