George Quimby8 Whitney (Aaron7, Aaron6, Levi5, Daniel4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Aaron7 and Rebecca (Perkins) Whitney, was born 22 Apr 1843, Saccarappa, ME, and died 4 Aug 1925, Hartford, CT. He was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT.[1]

He, of Hartford, CT, married firstly, 7 Nov 1865, Orange, MA, Hortense L. A. Johnson, daughter of Nathan L. and Olive (Atwood) Johnson.[2] She was born 12 Aug 1842, Orange, MA, and died 30 Dec 1866, North Orange, MA, aged 24 years 4 months 17 days, of consumption.[3] She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT.[4]

He married secondly, 27 Oct 1870, Hartford, CT, Isabelle Gaylord. She was born 14 Feb 1851, Torrington (then Wolcottville), CT, and died 6 Dec 1939, CT. She was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT.[5]

George Q. went to Hartford when he was twelve years of age and has lived there since. He is a machinist by trade, and is employed by the Pratt & Whitney Company. He served in the late war; was slightly wounded at the battle of Antietam, and was later taken a prisoner of war, and remained about eight months in the Andersonville prison. He was discharged a short time before the close of the war, and he and Isabelle received a pension from the U.S. government for his service. He resided Hartford, CT, s.p.
