Family:Whitney, George Washington (1794-1861)

George Washington⁶ Whitney (Ebenezer⁵, David⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of Ebenezer⁵ and Ruth (Raymond) Whitney, was born 26 Jul 1794, Norwalk, CT,^[1] and died 18 Dec 1861, Venice, NY.

He married, 4 Apr 1816, Wilton, CT, Matilda Olmstead, daughter of Jasper and Esther (Bennett) Olmstead, by Rev. Levi Dykeman, Baptist. She was born 18 Oct 1797, Wilton, CT, and died after Aug 1874.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a farmer . . . . They settled in Venice, N. Y., where he died, 18 Dec. 1861, and was buried in East Venice Cemetery. She was still living in East Venice, in Aug. 1874."
