"Dea." Gorham⁷ Whitney (Reuben⁶, Abel⁵, Nathan⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Reuben⁶ and Mercy (Baker) Whitney, was born 19 Jun 1806, Litchfield, ME,^[1] and "Dea." died 14 May 1859, Gardiner, ME, aged 53 years.^[2]

He married 12 Apr 1829, Litchfield, ME, or 3 May 1829, Litchfield, ME, Olive Pain, "both of Litchfield",^[3] daughter of William and Ruth (Curtis) Paine. She was born 15 Aug 1809, Litchfield, ME, and "Mrs." died 15 Apr 1890, aged 80 years 7 months, Green, MI.^[4]

He was a cooper. They lived in Gardiner and Newcastle, ME.

iv.	Hannah Frances Whitney, b. 20 Apr 1837, Gardiner, ME;[9] d. 24 Nov 1860, Gardiner, ME, aged 23 years.[10]
v.	Gorham Mason Whitney, b. 6 Feb 1840, Gardiner, ME;[11] d. 1917, Bosque Co. TX; m. 18 Oct 1874, Canaan, ME, "Miss" Jennie M. Chase, both of Canaan.[12]
vi.	Harriet O. Whitney, b. 16 Jun 1841, Gardiner, ME;[13] d. after 1860; m. 4 Nov 1867, Gardiner, ME, George L. Smith.[14]
