Gurdon Boardman8 Whitney (Eben Jennings7, Thomas6, Peter5, Josiah4, Josiah3, [prob.] Benjamin2, John1), son of Eben Jennings7 and Sarah (Boardman) Whitney, was born 29 Nov 1839, Brown, OH, and died 4 Aug 1864, in the Balfour U. S. General Hospital, Portsmouth, VA, of camp diarrhoea. He was buried in the U. S. Cemetery, Portsmouth, VA.

He married, 12 Jan 1860, Brown, OH, Ann Ilgenfrieg.

He served in the civil war as a private in Company B, 142d Regiment Ohio National Guard. He resided Brown, OH.
