Gurdon Clark8 Whitney (Chancy Wright7, Dennis6, Samuel5, Eliakim4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Chancy Wright7 and Phebe Ann (Leach) Whitney, was born 4 Oct 1839, Allen's Hill, Richmond, NY, and died 12 Dec 1916, Utica, MI, aged 77 years.[1] He was buried in Utica Cemetery, Utica, NY.[2]

He married, 11 Jan 1865, Shelby, MI, Abigail St. John,[3] daughter of George and Permelia (Taft) St. John. She was born 7 Jan 1844 or 1845, Shelby, MI, and died 14 Apr 1923, Pontiac, MI, age 78 years.[4] She was buried in Utica Cemetery, Utica, NY.[5]

He was a farmer. They dwelt at Shelby till 28 Apr 1867; and then settled at Deerfield, MI, where they were still living in 1874.

i. Charles Leach9 Whitney, b. 20 Mar 1873, Deerfield, MI; d. 28 Mar 1951, Waterford, MI, aged 78 years; unmarried.[6]
