Hannah5 Whitney (Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), daughter of Eliasaph4 and Mary (Bishop) Whitney, was born 21 Jan 1760, Stamford, CT, was baptized 27 Jan. 1760, Middlesex, now Darien, CT, and died 17 Feb 1851, Darien, CT, in her 92nd year.
She married firstly, 18 Apr 1779, Stamford Episcopal Church, Stamford, CT, Joseph Smith, "late of Huntington, Long Island".[1]
She married secondly, 18 or 26 Apr 1787, Stamford, CT. Nathaniel Slason, son of Deliverance and Hannah (Hait) Slason, of Stamford. He was born 2 Jan. 1744-5, O.S., or 13 Jan. 1745, N.S., Stamford, CT, and died 1 May 1835, in his 91st year. He had married firstly, Lydia Bates, who died Jan 1784.
He was a farmer. They settled in Darien, CT. They were buried in a family cemetery at Darien. He served as a Captain in the Revolutionary War. By his first wife, he had ten children; making, with eleven by the second wife, twenty-one in all, of whom seventeen lived to adult age.

Francis Slason, b. 23 Mar 1790, Stamford, now Darien, CT; d. aft. 1876; m.(1) 1 Jul 1814, West Rutland, VT, Mary Gordon, b. 3 Jan 1796, Pawlet, VT, d. 2 May 1821, West Rutland, VT, dau. of Samuel Gordon of Pittsford, VT; m.(2) 6 Aug 1822, Hardwick, MA, Celia Harmon, b. 1 Dec 1793, Hardwick, MA, d. aft. 1876, dau. of Elijah Barber and Nancy (Hitchcock) Harmon, of Hardwick, MA; a banker. He dwelt in Troy, NY, from the Spring of 1804 till Mar 1813; and then settled at West Rutland, VT, where they were living in Mar 1876. He has been a justice of the peace, and has represented the town of Rutland in the General Assembly of Vermont. v. Sophia Slason, b. 10 Aug 1791, Stamford, now Darien, CT; d. 26 Jan 1867, at 143 East 27th Street, New York, NY; bur. Darien, CT, on the homestead of her father, which, in 1876, was owned by her nephew, Henry Mortimer Platt, of New York; m.(1) 22 Jan 1812, Darien, CT, Augustus Hoyt, b. 24 Nov 1789, Stamford, CT, d. 3 Nov 1826, New York, NY, bur. Darien, CT, son of Frederick and Abigail (Lockwood) Hoyt, of Stamford; a farmer; dwelt in Warwick, NY; Darien, CT; and New York City. She m.(2) 1829, New York, NY, Selah Mapes, as his fourth wife, b. 7 Oct 1782, Orange Co., NY, d. 4 Aug 1860, Wading River, L.I., NY, of heart disease, bur. Wading River Cemetery, Wading River, NY; a cartman. They dwelt in New York (for the last few years, at 110 Ludlow Street), till 1859, when she went to Edinburgh, Scotland, on a visit, with her daughter, and he took up his residence with Mrs. Woodhull, his daughter, at Wading River, L.I. She remained in Edinburgh two years and three months, and then returned to New York, where she died. vi. Julia Slason, b. 28 Nov 1793, Stamford, now Darien, CT; m. 25 Dec 1814, Darien, CT, Maurice Hoyt, b. 23 Feb 1791, Stamford, CT, son of Frederick and Abigail (Lockwood) Hoyt, a farmer, of Stamford; they dwelt in Darien, in New York City, and, since 1830, in Warwick, NY, where they were living in March 1876. He taught school in New York for twenty-one years; and represented Orange County in the Assembly of New York, in 1849. vii. Isaac Slason, b. 23 Sep 1795, Stamford, now Darien, CT; a tailor; died in Florida. viii. Betsey Ann Slason, b. 4 Jan 1798, Stamford, now Darien, CT; d. New York, NY; m.(1) 2 Apr 1817, Darien, CT, Alexander Morehouse; married (2) Sep 1830, New York City, NY, Charles N. Chandler. ix. Cornelia Slason, b. 26 May 1799, Stamford, now Darien, CT; m.(1) 5 Sep 1816, Darien, CT, Selleck Weed, b. 3 Sep 1796, Darien, CT, d. 28 Jul 1826, Darien, CT, bur. Darien, CT, son of Deodate and Sarah (Holly) Weed, of Darien; m.(2) 1 Nov 1829, New York City, NY, Charles Stedman Tileston, b. Nov 1795, Boston, MA, d. 10 Aug 1834, New York, NY, son of Timothy and Mary (Stedman) Tileston, of Boston, MA. She dwelt in Darien till her second marriage, and, after that, in New York, where she was living with her son-in-law, Henry Mortimer Platt, at 133 West 13th Street, in March 1876. x. William Platt Slason, b. 20 Feb 1802, Stamford, now Darien, CT; married in June 1824, in New York City, Mary Gedney; and died at New York, 12 Aug. 1837. xi. George Nelson Slason, b. 10 Feb 1806, Stamford, now Darien, CT; a ship-carpenter and farmer; m. Feb 1828, at his father's house in Darien, CT, Eliza Turney, b. 28 Jan 1806, Trumbull, CT, dau. of Daniel and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Turney, of Bridgeport. They settled on his father's homestead, at Darien, where he died, 26 May 1848, and was buried in the family cemetery. They dwelt at Bridgeport, in 1836-37.
