Family:Whitney, Henry A. (1815-1862)

Henry A.⁷ Whitney (Israel⁶, Israel⁵, Elijah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of Israel⁶ and Phoebe (Jennison) Whitney, was born 15 Jan 1815, Boston, MA, and died 3 Jul 1862, Newark, NJ.

He married, Newark, NJ, Hannah Stickels, of Newark, NJ. She was born about 1818, and died after 1870.

He was born in Boston, MA, and at an early age became a resident of Newark, NJ, where he was married and where he ever after resided. He was a prominent and well-know resident of that city. He was the first person to hold the office of chief of police of Newark, and for many years was president of the Mutual Life Insurance Company of Newark. He resided Newark, NJ.

iv.	Annie Whitney, b. ca. 1851, NJ; m. ----- Schniber; resided Asbury Park, NJ.
v.	Martha A.8 Whitney, b. 3 Jan 1853; m. 26 Feb 1874, Charles Mills Ward; b. 20 Dec 1850, Cambridge, England. He is a manufacturing jeweler on Washington St., Boston, MA; resided 12 Thornley St., Dorchester, MA. Ch.: Charles Whitney, b. 10 Apr 1876.
vi.	Henrietta Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1857; m. 29 Aug 1879, Charles L. Christenson; resided Vailsburg, NJ. He was b. 16 Aug 1853, Boston, MA. Ch.: Mattie L., b. 13 Dec 1881; Herbert, b. 17 Aug 1884; Whitney, b. 15 Sep 1887; Alfred Walter, b. 30 Jul 1889; Henrietta, b. 6 Jan 1891.
