Henry Platt6 Whitney (Sylvanus5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Sylvanus5 and Betty (Hoyt) Whitney, was born 10 Oct 1792, St. John, NB, and died 25 Nov 1846, at sea. "He perished on board a castaway vessel, 25 Nov. 1846, on the south shore of the Bay of Fundy," and was buried in the Episcopal Cemetery, Granville, NS.

He married Jan 1816, Lancaster, NB, Mary Brundage, daughter of Capt. John Brundage. She was born 10 Aug 1793, Lancaster, NB, and died 10 Jan 1858, Lancaster, NB.

Phoenix says the following:

... a merchant-tailor .... They dwelt at Alexandria, Va., from 1817 to 1830; at St. John, N. B., till 1836; at Alexandria again, till 1845; and settled finally at Lancaster.

i. Sylvanus7 Whitney, b. 24 Mar 1817, Lancaster, NB; m.(1) Elmira Parker; m.(2) Alice Jane Bowles.
