Family:Whitney, Hiram (1835-1899)

Hiram⁹ Whitney (Hiram⁸, John Rodman⁷, William⁶, Thomas⁵, William⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Hiram⁸ and Charlotte (Appleby) Whitney, was born 1 Sep 1835, PA, and died 15 Aug 1899, Bradford Co., PA.

He married, before 1870, Electa A. -----. She was born about 1849, PA, and died after 1880.

He married probably secondly, Towanda, PA, Hannah Shay.

He married probably thirdly, Effie Shay or Effa M. Wolfe. She was born Feb 1855, PA, and died after 1900.

The last two marriages are according to Whitney and Weeks (see below). The census records give him the first marriage.

On 16 Mar 1887, in PA, Hiram Whitney applied for a pension as an invalid for service in the Civil War, Co. A, 24th Ohio Infanty, and Co. G, 2nd U.S. Cavalry. The Application Number was 602,299, and the Certificate Number was 402,268.

On 28 AUg 1899, Effa M. Wolfe applied for a pension as widow of Hiram. The Application Number was 704,170, and the Certificate Number was 489,524.

Hiram⁹ Whitney had no children.
