Hiram McKendree⁸ Whitney (Joel⁷, Ira⁶, Nathan⁵, Nathan⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), son of Joel⁷ and Sarah (Mead) Whitney, was born 8 Aug 1832, Warren, PA, and died 14 May 1863, Warren, PA.

He married, 25 Oct 1855, Warren Co., PA, Caroline D. Mandeville, daughter of John Streator and Rebecca (Keenan) Mandeville. She was born 18 Feb 1841, Whitehall, PA, and died 15 Dec 1914, Goldendale, Klickitat Co., WA. She married secondly, 10 Jan 1864, Whitehall, PA, Peter Brokaw.
