Family:Whitney, Isabella (1765-1843)
Isabella5 Whitney (Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), daughter of Benjamin4 and Mercy (Hinckley) Whitney, was born 2 Aug 1765, Lisbon, ME, and died 14 Sep 1843, Phillips, ME.
She married, 26 Oct 1784, Little River Plantation, ME, Increase Blethen, "both of Little River",[1] son of John and Hannah (Keene) Blethen. He was born 15 May 1758, Royalsborough, MA, and died 14 Sep 1838, Phillips, ME. He was also known as Increase Blifen.
Isabella was also known as Isabel Whitney. She lived at Phillips, Maine.
Increase Blethen served in the American Continental Army in the Revolutionary War. He and his wife Isabella were pensioned for his 3 year service in Capt. Smart’s Co., Colonel Calvin Smith’s Regiment of the Massachusetts Line. His pension application states that he and Isabella were married at Little River Plantation, at that time an unincorporated area. Because it was unincorporated, the marriage was recorded in the nearest incorporated town of Topsham. Little River eventually became a part of the town of Lisbon.
