Jacob7 Whitney (Jacob6, Abraham5, Abraham4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), born 8 Oct 1787; married in Stow, Massachusetts, 12 May 1811, Maria Goldsmith; born 15 May 1792; died 1 Feb 1885, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jacob Whitney was a native of Stow, Massachusetts. Shortly after marriage he left Massachusetts for western Pennsylvania, remaining only a short time, before descending the Ohio River. Was one of the original settlers in Jefferson County, Indiana, and died young, leaving a large family. His wife was a remarkable woman, and trained her children so that every one was strong and useful in their lives, the older boys becoming quite wealthy. He died 10 Aug 1823; resided Madison, Indiana.

ii. Sophronia J. Whitney, born 13 Dec 1814; married 12 Mar 1835, Benjamin F. Baker; resided Madison, Indiana. He was born 6 Mar 1811; died Jan. 6, 1892. He was a merchant.

iii. Roland A. Whitney, born 20 Mar 1817; married Eliza Hicks, and Annie E. Lemon.
iv. Alexander N. Whitney, born 24 Jun 1819; married Elvira A. Smith.
v. Maria Houghton Whitney, born 27 Jul 1822; married 30 Jan 1845, Nestor W. Conant; resided Long Branch, New Jersey. He was born 4 Jan 1811; merchant.
