James7 Whitney (James6, Ezra5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), son of James6 and Mary (Robinson) Whitney, was born 6 Mar 1800, and died 30 Aug 1854, Woodstock, CT, aged 54 years.[1]

He married firstly, 18 Sep 1826, Woodstock, CT, Prudence Allard,[2] daughter of Joseph and Miriam (Bacon) Allard. She was born 22 Dec 1799, Woodstock, CT, and died 17 May 1839, Woodstock, CT.[3]

He married secondly, 9 Sep 1839, Albany, VT, Lavina Lee,[4] daughter of Phineas and Susan Jane (Otis) Lee. She was born 14 Feb 1820, Craftsbury or Peacham, VT, and died 12 May 1905, Grafton, MA, aged 85 years 3 months, of pneumonia.[5] She married secondly, 4 Jul 1859, Sutton, MA, Rufus Burdon, of Sutton, as his third wife, son of Jonathan and Bilotha (Bartlett) Burdon.[6] He was born about Mar 1784, Sutton, MA, and died 23 Dec 1863, Sutton, MA, aged 77 years 9 months.[7]

Lavina L. Burden, of Sutton, appointed guardian of Floretta A. Whitney, minor child of James Whitney, Woodstock, CT, 15 Feb 1870. [Floretta was then 16 years old.]

He was a carpenter and joiner. He resided Woodstock, CT.

a. Dwight Earnest King, b. 27 Apr 1867; married and resided Sutton, MA.
iv. Louisa Maria Whitney, b. ca. Dec 1847; d. 30 May 1850, Woodstock, CT, aged 2 years 5 months.[10]
v. Hanrietta B. Whitney, b. 29 May 1849, Woodstock, CT;[11] d. 25 May 1850, Woodstock, CT, aged 1 year.[12]
vi. Perley Lyon Whitney, b. 30 Apr 1854; killed by the cars in Worcester, 27 Aug 1869, aged 18 years 7 months, accidentally ren over on railroad.[13]
vii. Floretta Ann Whitney, b. 30 Apr 1854, Woodstock, CT; "Etta L." m. 11 Oct 1870, Sutton, MA, Theodore L. Chase, b. ca. 1849, Hillsdale, NY, son of Walter A. and Laura (-----) Chase;[14] resided 17 Bellevue St., Worcester, MA. Children:
