James Ansel8 Whitney (James Monroe7, Jonathan6, Peter5, Josiah4, Josiah3, [prob.] Benjamin2, John1), son of James Monroe7 and Eliza (Cozzens) Whitney, was born 12 Sep 1849, Bethel, VT, and died 12 Jul 1934, Tunbridge, VT.

He married, 14 Sep 1872, Bethel, VT, Augusta A. Diamond. She was born 31 Oct 1851, VT, and died 1929.

He was educated at the common schools; worked with his father as a mechanic until 21 years of age. Since, he has been employed as a commerical traveler, which business he still follows. In politics he is Republican, and decidedly American in principal, believing that Americans should rule America; resided Tunbridge, VT.

i. Phil S.9 Whitney, b. 26 Feb 1878, resided North Tunbridge.
ii. Ned L. Whitney, b. 30 Oct 1884; resided North Tunbridge.
