He married, 22 Oct 1867, Amity, NY, Jane Bush, daughter of John and Jane (Barrett) Bush. She was born 13 Jun 1842, Amity, NY, and died after 1880.
Phoenix says:
- "James Horton Whitney, b. at Florida, N. Y., 30 Sept. 1835; a dealer in furniture; married at Amity, N. Y., 22 Oct. 1867, by Rev. Thomas H. Grennell, to Jane Bush, dau. of John and Jane (Barrett) Bush, of Amity, where she was born 13 June 1842. They settled at Florida, and were hiving there in May 1875. He had previously hived at Middletown, N. Y., from 1 Ap. 1852 to 1 May 1853; and at Warwick, N. Y., till 1 Dec. 1854."
