Jeremiah C. Whitney (Phinehas, (poss.) John5, (poss.) Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Phinehas and Mary (Crommitt) Whitney, was born 28 Feb 1804, Phillips (or Waterville or Farmington), ME,[1] and died 3 Mar 1873, possibly in Presque Isle or Monticello, ME, aged 69 years 2 days. He is buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, ME.

He married firstly, before 1834, Lydia Mason. She was born 19 Aug 1814, Oromocto, NB, and died 27 Sep 1856, probably in Presque Isle, ME. She is buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, ME.

He married secondly, 26 Mar 1857, Houlton, ME, Susan (Tegart) Butler ("Butter" in marriage record). She was born about 1822, Ireland, and died after 1900. She had married firstly, 12 Nov 1843, Houlton, ME, Charles A. Butler.

Children of Jeremiah C. and Lydia (Mason) Whitney:

i. Orrin Whitney, b. May 1834; m. Hannah E. Goss "both of Presque Isle". He is buried in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, ME.
ii. Fanny Whitney, b. ca. 1834 or 1836, Bangor, ME; m. before 1856, William H. Hooper.
ii. George F. Whitney, b. 1 Jun 1837, NB; d. 18 Sep 1893; bur. Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle, ME; m. Henrietta F. Butler.
ii. Lydia A. Whitney, b. ca. 1844, NB; d. 4 Feb 1898, Barre, MA, aged 51 years 4 months 1 day, of pneumonia;[2] m. 7 Nov 1880, Everett, MA, George M. Luce, both of Presque Isle, ME.[3]
iii. Phebe E. Whitney, b. May 1845, ME; d. 17 Aug 1878, Presque Isle, ME, aged 33 years 3 months. She is buried in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle, ME. Her grave marker is inscribed: Phebe E. Whitney died Aug. 17, 1878, age 33 years & 3 months. Thirty of her business associates have erected this momento of their appreciation of her many virtues.
iv. Jeremiah Whitney, b. ca. 1850, ME.

v. Wentworth "Wintie" Whitney, b. ca. 1857, prob. Presque Isle, ME; died 23 May 1861, age 3 years & 5 months, prob. in Presque Isle, ME. He is buried there in the Fairmount Cemetery.
