Revision as of 17:14, 18 March 2018

Jesse6 Whitney (David5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of David5 and Hannah (Brown) Whitney, was born 28 Mar 1758, Gorham, ME,[1] and died 17 Jan 1832 at Saco, ME, aged 77 years.[2]

He married firstly, 15 Apr 1785, Saco, ME, Mary Sawyer, daughter of David and Hannah (Pendexter) Sawyer. She was born 25 Mar 1765, Saco, ME,[3] and died 9 Oct 1815, Saco, ME.[4]

Marriage intentions were published 7 Jun 1817, Biddeford, ME, for him "Mr." "of Saco" and his second wife "Mrs." Charity Nowell, "of Biddeford".[5] Marriage intentions were published 17 Jun 1817, Saco, ME, for him "of Saco" and Charity Nowell "of Biddeford".[6] He "of Saco" married secondly, 16 Jul 1817, Biddeford, ME, Charity (Gray) Nowell "of Biddeford",[7] daughter of Harrison and Sarah (Rumery) Gray. She was born 22 May 1782, Biddeford, ME, and died 18 Feb 1856. She had married, 2 Jun 1799, Biddeford, ME, John Nowell.

According to Pierce, he married thirdly, ----- -----. [NOTE: Since Charity died after he did, and received benefits as his widow, he could not married a wife after her. If he had three wives, he could have married firstly before 1785, secondly to Mary Sawyer, and thirdly to Charity (Gray) Nowell. More likely Pierce is just mistaken about the number of his wives.--RLW]

He resided Saco, ME.

Jesse was a Revolutionary War veteran:
