John5 Whitney (Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathan4 and Lydia (Young) Whitney, was born 4 Apr 1747, Biddeford, ME,[1], was baptized 18 Apr 1747, Biddeford, ME,[2] and died 5 May 1776, in the Army.

He married Elizabeth -----.

i. Hannah Catherine6 Whitney, b. 6 Aug 1766, NH; d. 23 Jul 1861, Bath, ME; m. 12 Nov 1785, Gorham, ME, Noah Rogers.
ii. Mary Whitney; b. 18 Jan 1776, Gorham, ME;[3] m. (int. 9 Sep 1798, Clinton, ME) 30 Sep 1798, Clinton, ME, Woodbridge Persons "both of Twenty Five Mile Pond Settlement".[4]

Notes

His widow may be the Elizabeth Whitney who married, 8 Oct 1780, Falmouth, ME, Richard Dutton.[5][6] Elizabeth, widow of Richard Dutton, applied for a pension for Richard's service in the Revolution, # W 24,860. They appear in the 1790 Census at Wells, ME, and possibly in the 1820 Census at Sanford, ME, but not in 1800 or 1810.

An online family tree gives her name as Elizabeth McLellan.
