Family:Whitney, John (1780-1849)

John⁶ Whitney (Abijah⁵, Daniel⁴, Henry³, John², Henry¹), son of Abijah⁵ and Elizabeth (Ellsworth) Whitney, was born 20 Jan 1780, Warwick, NY, and died 6 Apr 1849, Brooklyn, NY.

He married, 20 Oct 1804, Chester, NY, Susanna Smith. She died 29 Dec 1847, Florida, NY.

Phoenix says the following:

. . . settled at Florida, in Warwick, . . . . He went, in Nov. 1848, to dwell with his daughters, in Brooklyn, N. Y., and there died, 6 Ap. 1849. They were buried in Cypress Hill Cemetery. He served in the war of 1812.

iv.	William Anson Whitney, b. 30 Oct 1810, Florida, NY; a draper and tailor, at 515 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY, in Apr 1875.
v.	Melicent Whitney, b. 6 May 1813, Florida, NY; was living at 193 Johnson Street, Brooklyn, NY, in May 1875, unmarried.
vi.	Alonzo Delevan Whitney, b. 4 Sep 1815, Florida, NY; was living in Minnesota, in Ap. 1875.
vii.	Mary Whitney, b. 21 Dec 1818, Florida, NY; was living at 193 Johnson Street, Brooklyn, NY, in May 1875, unmarried.
viii.	John Whitney, b. 6 Oct 1821, Florida, NY; d. 19 Oct 1831, Florida, NY, and was buried there.
