John6 Whitney (Josiah5, John4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Josiah5 and Hannah (Turner) Whitney, was born 1781, Toronto, Canada, or about 1791, Gaspe, Lower Canada, and died 1864, Chipman, NS. It should be mentioned that the Toronto mentioned by F.C. Pierce is probably not the Toronto, Canada known today. There is a possibility that there was an area of Gaspe known as "Toronto".

He was born in Toronto, Canada, was a farmer, and during the war of 1812 served in an English company, raised in Canada.
