Family:Whitney, John (s1785-1816)
Capt. John Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1785, probably Bermuda, died 16 Nov 1816, Spanish Point, Pembroke Parish, Bermuda, "leaving a widow and 4 children".[1]
He married, 24 Jan 1805, Pembroke Parish, Bermuda, Mary Sally Dunscomb.[2] She was born circa 1786, died 19 Mar 1859, Pembroke Parish, Bermuda.[3]
The will of John Whitney was written 14 Nov 1816 and probated 28 Mar 1817. He was mentioned as being a mariner, of Pembroke Parish, leaving a widow Mary Sarah and children Samuel Henry, William Richardson, Ann, and John. He mentioned brothers-in-law Samuel Dunscomb and John W. Tilley. The executor was his widow Mary and his brothers-in-law as named. The witnesses were Joseph H. Saltus, George Hutchings, and John Gibson.[4]
