Capt. John Coffin6 Whitney (John Coffin5, John4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of John Coffin5 Whitney, was born 3 Jan 1785, died 24 Jan 1824, and was buried 27 Jan 1824, St. Peter And St. Paul, Fareham, Hampshire, England.[1]

He married, 5 Jul 1814, Philadelphia, PA, Anna Houseman.[2] She was born about 1789, Philadelphia, PA, and died 17 Mar 1869, Philadelphia, PA, aged 80 years. She might be the Nancy Hausmann, daughter of Johann Engelhard and Charity (-----) Hausmann, born 9 Dec 1788, and baptized 11 Jan 1789, St Michael's and Zion Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, PA. She married secondly, before 1840, ----- Sharp, who died before 1850.

She lived at 133 Queen St., Ward 3, Philadelphia, PA, at her death.

Children of John Coffin6 and Anna (Houseman) Whitney:

i. William7 Whitney, b. 10 May 1815, PA; m. Catherine Rue.
ii. Harriet Whitney, b. 27 Apr 1817; m. 24 Sep 1840, Philadelphia, PA, Edmund Henry Frishmuth.
iii. (prob.) Sarah Whitney, b. ca. 1820, MA; d. after 1850; living with Anna (Houseman)(Whitney) Sharp in 1850 and 1860.
