Family:Whitney, John H. (1854-1928)

John H.⁹ Whitney (John H.⁸, William⁷, William⁶, Abner⁵, John⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of John H.⁸ and Hannah H. (-----) Whitney, was born 27 Aug 1854, Westbrook, ME, and died 1 Jan 1928. He was buried in Haley Cemetery, Sebago, ME.^[1]

He married, 25 Nov 1874, Sebago, ME, Mary Frances Sawyer, daughter of Peter Wilson and Mary (Jewell) Sawyer. She was born about 1859, Sebago, ME, and died 24 Oct 1913, Sebago or Strong, ME, aged 54 years 9 months 29 days, of angina pectoris.^[2] There must have been a divorce, since she married secondly, before 1880, Florilla E. Wentworth, born 3 Feb 1849, Sebago, ME, and died 20 Mar 1917, Sebago, ME, son of Stephen and Jane Libby (Pugsley) Wentworth.

He was a farmer.

ii.	Eva C. Whitney, b. ca. 1877, Sebago, ME; m. 17 Apr 1897, Ipswich, MA, Fred C. Rankin, b. ca. 1874, Hiram, ME, son of Madison and Lizzie (Stewart/Stuart) Rankin.[4]

Notes

John's name is given as John in the Rowley VRs, John in the Cornish, ME, VRs, John H. in census records, and James in the Ipswich VRs. Mary's name is given as Mary Frances, Mary F., or Fannie M.
