John Merrick⁶ Whitney (James Rex⁵, Caleb⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of James Rex⁵ and Polly (Holland) Whitney, was born 4 Jun 1792, Franklin, GA,and died 18 Nov 1867.

He married, 19 Oct 1818, Clarissa Montgomery. She was born 21 Apr 1798, and died 9 Jun 1871.

He resided Fayette, MS.
