John Sweetser7 Whitney (Andrew6, Micah5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Andrew6 and Huldah (Sweetser) Whitney, was born 24 or 27 Dec 1829, Phillips, ME,[1] and died after 1900.

He married, before 1858 (said 20 Jan 1853), Sarah Louise Libby, daughter of Tristram and Dorothy (Belknap) Libby. She was born 24 May 1834, Boston, MA, and died 29 Jul 1908, Whitinsville, Northbridge, MA, aged 74 years 2 months 5 days, of Bright's disease.[2] She was living in her parents family in Livermore, ME, in 1850.

ii. Julia E. Whitney, b. ca. May 1860, Phillips, ME; m. 22 Nov 1883, Westborough, MA, Edward W. Winchenbach, b. ca. 1855, Waldoboro, ME, son of Robert and Henrietta (-----) Winchenbach;[3] res. Westborough, MA.
iii. Lilly M. Whitney, b. ca. 25 Jun 1863, Island Falls, ME; d. 29 Feb 1880, Westborough, MA, aged 16 years 8 months 4 days, of tuberculosis.[4]
iv. Mary A. Whitney, b. ca. 1865, Island Falls, ME; m. 8 Aug 1891, Westborough, MA, John A. Jardine, b. ca. 1868, NS, son of John and Agnes (Bonner) Jardine.[5]
v. William L. Whitney, b. ca. 1869, (prob. Island Falls), ME.
vi. Achsah L. Whitney, b. ca. 1872, (prob. Island Falls), ME, or Westborough, MA; m. 22 Nov 1893, Westborough, MA, Charles L. Aldrich, b. ca. 1866, Northbridge, MA, son of Van R. & Hannah M. (Cummings) Aldrich.[6]
