Family:Whitney, Jonathan (1783-1876)
Jonathan6 Whitney (Jonathan5, James4, Joseph3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Jonathan5 and Abigail (Hemminway) Whitney, was born 6 Apr 1783, Fitzwilliam, NH,[1] and died 1876, Poweshiek County, IA.
He married, 23 Jan 1819, Mansfield, OH, Miranda Marvin, daughter of Isaac and Hannah (Hoyt) Marvin. She was born 13 Jan 1798, Norwalk, CT, and died said 1842.
He was born in the Green Mountain State; his descendants say at Windsor. He migrated to Ohio, where he worked on a farm and where he was married. Soon after their marriage they moved to Indiana, about Brown county. He finally moved to Iowa, where he died. He resided VT, New London, OH, Brown County, IN, and Poweshiek County, IA.
