Joseph Whitney (James), son of Captain James and Henrietta (Aborn) Whitney,[1] was born 13 Dec 1772,[2] probably Warwick, Kent County, Rhode Island[3] and died 2 Mar 1816, New Orleans, LA.[4]

He married, 21 Jan 1798, Newport, Rhode Island, Frances Davenport, daughter of Samuel Davenport.[5] She died 11 Sep 1821, Providence, RI.[6]

Children of Joseph and Frances (Davenport) Whitney, if any, unknown. There were none shown in the 1800 and 1810 censuses.
