Lieut. Joseph6 Whitney (Jonathan5, James4, Joseph3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Jonathan5 and Abigail (Hemminway) Whitney, was born 7 Jun 1774, Fitzwilliam, NH,[1] and died 5 Jan 1860, Wilson, NY, aged 85 of old age.[2]

He married 22 Dec 1805, Perth, NY, Sophia Oliver, daughter of Alexander and Zerviah (Rice) Oliver. She was born 6 Dec 1784, Providence, Saratoga Co., NY, or Brookfield, MA, and died 3 Mar 1860, Wilson, NY, aged 75 of consumption.[3]

He was a farmer, was a soldier in the war of 1812, and acted as a lieutenant and quartermaster. He resided Wilson, NY.
