Joseph S.8 Whitney (Jonathan7, Jonathan6, Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Jonathan7 and Lucy (Spaulding) Whitney, was born about 1828, Templeton or Gardner, MA, and died after 1870.

He married 12 Mar 1854, Boston, MA, Hannah S. Chase, daughter of Joshua Chase.[1] She was born about 1831, Portland, ME, and died 1871, Brooklyn, NY.

He resided Brooklyn, NY, and Boston, MA. In 1858 he was a chairmaker living on Brooks St., Boston, MA.
