Joshua5 Whitney (Joshua4, Joshua3, David2, Samuel1), was born circa 1759, Southampton Co., VA, and died 1814, Southampton Co., VA.

He married, first, before 1777, Southampton Co., VA, Ann -----.

He married, second, 20 Oct 1795, Southampton Co., VA, Dorothy 'Dolly' Douglas.

His wife Ann's surname may have been Jones. In Southampton Co., Will Book 3, p. 182 is the will of Nathan Jones written and recorded in 1777. He makes a bequest to brother Thomas Jones, wife Mary with a reversion to cousin Mary, daughter of Blythe Williams, if without heirs to Ann, now the wife of Joshua Whitney.

vii. Sally Whitney, m. 21 May 1812, John Boykin.

  • 1810, Shenandoah, Southampton Co., VA: Joshua Whitney, 1 male over 45, 3 females 16-26, 5 slaves.
  • (probably) 1810, Southampton Co., VA: Elisha Joyner, 1 male 26-45, 1 male under 10, 1 female 26-45, 2 females under 10. (This was probably his daughter and son-in-law)
