Josiah5 Whitney (John4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of John4 and Jerusha (Knowles) Whitney, was born 7 Nov 1741, Eastham, MA, died Salmon River, Queens County, New Brunswick, 1810.

He married, 24 Jan 1771, Brookline, MA, Hannah Turner, daughter of Eliab and Martha (Barstow) Turner. She was born 1732, Cambridge, MA, and died 1807, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

He resided Gaspé, Nova Scotia, and Salmon River, New Brunswick.
