Josiah6 Whitney (Josiah5, Josiah4, Josiah3, [prob.] Benjamin2, John1), son of Josiah5 and Mary (Loomis) Whitney, was born 1 May 1791, East Granville, MA, was baptized 23 Jun 1791, Granville, MA,[1] and died 7 Oct 1869, Rootstown, OH.

He married, 28 May 1818, Almira Ellsworth, daughter of Calvin and Dolly (Lovejoy) Ellsworth. She was born 7 Jun 1803, East Windsor, CT, and died 14 Jan 1884, Rootstown, OH.

He spent 18 months in the army during the 1812 war. Went to Ohio 1815 in which state he remained until his death. He resided in Rootstown, OH.
