Family:Whitney, Luther (1782-1878)
Luther7 Whitney (Nathan6, Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathan6 and Olive (Whitney) Whitney, was born 20 Aug 1782, Conway, MA, and died 17 May 1878, Seneca Castle, NY.
He married firstly, Jan 1803, Hannah Witter. She died 25 Oct 1824.
He married secondly, 20 Sep 1827, Hannah L. Smalley. She was born 8 Aug 1794, and died 27 Feb 1875.
Mr. Luther Whitney was one of the early pioneers coming with his father to Seneca from Conway, MA, when but nine years of age. Through a long eventful life of over four score and ten years he saw the country changed from a wilderness to one of the finest agricultural regions in the state. He helped to clear a large tract of land, always living on the farm which he cleared. During the war of 1812 he was stationed for some time at Niagara. He resided Seneca Castle, NY.

xii. Tacey Whitney, b. 7 Apr 1832; unmarried; resided SC. xiii. Harriett P. Whitney, b. 20 Mar 1834; d. 18 Mar 1889; m. 5 Mar 1862, Cyrus Bray. He was b. 10 Apr 1835. Is a farmer; resided Seneca Castle, NY. Mrs. Bray was refined and gifted, by her death the church and Sabbath-school lost a cheerful worker, faithful teacher and trusted friend. Children: a. Fred C.
