Luther6 Whitney (Israel5, Elijah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Israel5 and Abigail (Fairbanks)(Puffer) Whitney, was born 5 Feb 1790, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 12 Mar 1871, Harvard, MA, aged 81 years 1 month 7 days, of [?metinacious?] and injury.[2]
He married, 3 Jan 1814, Harvard, MA, Melinda Wetherbee,[3] daughter of Jonathan and Abigail (Farwell) Wetherbee. She was born 28 July 1793, Harvard, MA, and died 4 May 1847, Harvard, MA, aged 50 years, of consumption, or aged 53 years.[4]
He was born in Harvard on the farm which his grandfather had purchased before the town was incorporated. He always resided there, and at this death the property passed into possession of his son Luke. He resided Harvard, MA.

Clarissa Whitney, b. ca. 1822, Harvard, MA; d. 29 Feb 1888, Boston, MA, aged 65 years, of pneumonia.[5] Her death record says she was a widow, but it is under her maiden name. If she was a widow, she must either have married another Whitney, or returned to using her maiden name after her husband's death, or been mistakenly recorded as a widow instead of single.
