Capt. Luther8 Whitney (Samuel7, Samuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Samuel7 and Elsey (Evarts) Whitney, was born 19 Feb 1825, Keeseville, NY.
He married firstly, 11 Feb 1846, Jane E. Bigelow, daughter of Erastus and Lavina (Rann) Bigelow. She was born 14 Mar 1827, and died 3 Dec 1875.
He married secondly, 13 Sep 1876, Mary Emily Watson.
Luther Whitney was born on the old Whitney homestead at Keeseville, NY, where he resided until a few years ago, when he disposed of it. He was a farmer. Was captain in the state militia and often supervisor of his township; resided Keeseville, NY.
