Melvina Susan7 Whitney (Benjamin Morse6, Micah5, Abel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), daughter of Benjamin Morse6 and Susan (Wells) Whitney, was born 28 May 1836, Phillips, ME, and died 14 May 1879, New Vineyard, ME.

She married, 1 Jan 1860, Philips, ME, Joshua Richmond Adams,[1] son of Joshua and Abigail Frost (Mosher) Adams. He was born 17 Jul 1833, Farmington, ME, and died 17 Mar 1904, prob. New Vineyard, ME.

Joshua R. Adams was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in Co. M of the 2nd Maine Cavalry. He received a pension from the U.S. government for his service.

Both Joshua and Melvina are buried in the Hackett-Notch Cemetery, New Vineyard, Maine.

i. Mabel V. Adams, b. 17 Jan 1861, Wilton, ME; m. Allen Wilson Durrell.
ii. Blanche E. Adams, b. 25 Mar 1864, Wilton, ME; m. Millard F. Raymond.
iii. Susie A. Adams, b. 25 Sep 1873, New Vineyard, ME; m. Charles H. Carsley.
