Family:Whitney, Moses (1782-1856)
Capt. Moses7 Whitney (Isaac6, Abraham5, Abraham4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Isaac6 and Lucy (Mead) Whitney, was born 14 Feb 1782, recorded both at Stow[1] and Harvard, MA, and died 1 Oct 1856, Stow, MA, aged 74 years 7 months 16 days, of old age.[2]
He married, 17 Apr 1806, Stow, MA, Lucy Gates,[3] daughter of Samuel and Mary (Rand) Gates. She was born 28 Mar 1787, and died 5 Nov 1875, Stow, MA.[4]
Moses Whitney was born in Harvard, MA, and at the time of his marriage, when twenty-four years of age, removed to Stow. He was a farmer, but took an active interest in all town matters. He was captain of a company of troopers, or home guards, for several years; for two years was representative in the legislature, and for several years was justice of the peace. He resided Stow, MA.
