Moses George7 Whitney ([prob.] Jabez6, Jacob5, Jonas4, Eleazar3, Thomas2, John1), probably son of Jabez6 and Sarah (Savoy) Whitney, was born 6 May 1816, Orange, MA,[1] and died 30 May 1866, Bristol, RI.[2] He was buried in the North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI.[3]

He married, 24 Sep 1846, Thompson, CT, Harriet Cordelia (Hawkins)(Dill) Salisbury,[4] daughter of Christopher and Clorenda/Clara (-----) Hawkins. She was born about 1805, Johnston, RI, and died 7 Mar 1883, Bristol, RI, aged 82 years, of dropsy.[5] She had married firstly, 3 Jul 1828, Providence, RI, George Dill. She had married secondly, before 1839, RI, ----- Salisbury.

He served in the Civil War as a Private in Co. B, 5th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery.

Notes

The fact that his death record says he was born in Orange, MA, seems to tie him to the birth record cited above, despite the fact that his father's name is given as "Uriah". That record does call his mother "Sally". His birthdate and place, and age, are variously stated in various sources.
